We all want to make the best use of our space during lockdown, especially any outdoor areas that allow us to enjoy some fresh air and vitamin D. But you don’t need an expansive garden to create a harmonious outdoor living space, here are my top tips for creating your own outdoor haven…
- Functional furniture. Think about what you want to use the space for to determine the key pieces that will serve the best purpose for you and your needs. Dreaming of dining al fresco? Bistro sets are compact and allow you to enjoy everything from that morning cup of coffee to a simple evening supper outside. For larger families and spaces, an old picnic bench makes the perfect upcycling project and can create a real focal point within the space.
- Soft furnishings. We often look to our flowers and plants to add pops of colour in the garden, but this can also easily be done through cushions, blankets and rugs. Pick a colour theme for your textiles as you would for your interior design, and add some further interest with the introduction of a print. I love a simple geometric style for a modern and fresh feel.
